It’s no secret today’s society has lost its way when it comes to manners. For generations, my family has worked in churches and private schools, guided by a commitment to youth leadership and service. It’s through this legacy that I’ve learned nurturing children is more than a role—it’s a calling.
There is something incredibly meaningful about watching children not only learn how to carry themselves in different situations, but truly understand why it matters. Manners are not about rules for the sake of rules; they are about respect, kindness, and the way we treat others.
As Christians, we are called to spread kindness, grace, and God’s love. Anyone can read a list of expectations, but when children are given thoughtful lessons, a purposeful curriculum, and a genuine connection, something special happens. You can see the moment those connections take place—when children realize their words and actions have purpose, and that what they do can uplift others and reflect God’s love.
Those are the moments that matter most to me. Not because I said so. Not because a parent requires it. But because children truly understand the reason behind it all—and choose kindness, confidence, and respect for themselves. When that happens, we’re not just teaching manners; we’re shaping hearts, strengthening character, and helping make the world a little brighter, one child at a time.
